Cabling and Bracing

Picture
Sometimes, your trees need support too.

Trees have a mind of their own. At times, when they grow in a particular way, they are no longer able to structurally support themselves and their limbs. Improper pruning, insects and fungal disorders, poor tree structure, weakened forks in branches or even errant weather can cause trees to lose their structural integrity.

Such trees can be unstable. The tree could split and can lose major branches or even an entire trunk especially during extreme weather conditions. Only you can ensure your trees are safe! Avoid tree failure, personal injury or damage to your property by cabling and bracing techniques, which are two of the most common forms of structural support for trees. We are a Cedar Rapids, Iowa tree service company that can give your trees the support they deserve.

Cabling and bracing your trees can lean on.

Are you concerned that your tree could be damaged by storms or by its own weight?  Don’t take chances. CR Tree care can work to create an artificial support system using cables and braces which are placed within a tree to make it more stable and hardy. These techniques work for both ornamental as well as large trees.

Cabling makes your trees safe and strong

The weakest point of a tree is usually where it forks. To prevent the heavy limbs from splitting, high strength steel cables are physically attached directly in the upper crown of the tree. This helps support the weak points and reduce strain between the limbs. Cabling also limits the movement of the supported branches so they are not affected by strong winds and ice storms.

No mess. No dangerous, sharp wires. Your beautiful, beloved tree stands just as it always did—towering and tall.

Proper bracing for proper protection

Bracing is recommended if your trees have developed cracks or are showing signs of cracking. Machine threaded or wood screw rods and bolts are placed between adjacent branches in order to repair split crotches or provide rigid support and stability to weak crotches. If necessary, bracing also helps to hold split trunks or limbs either together or apart as is required. At CR Tree Care, we do not advice bracing if the tree split/ failure has already occurred.

Subtle, strong and secure. That’s the cabling and bracing advantage.

Give your tree a new life with CR Tree Care Services. It takes a professional eye to spot any form of weakness in your trees, whether it is a co-dominant stem or a split crotch.
